Lijiang Eco-Sojourn Season Closed with SDC's 20th Anniversary Celebrations

Lijiang, Yunnan - November 7, 2025 – The Lijiang Eco-Sojourn Season concluded today following a week of activities focused on ecological tourism and community-driven sustainable practices. Co-organized by the Lijiang Tourism Association and the Beijing International Exchange Association Sustainable Development Committee (SDC), the event was held under the guidance of the Lijiang Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, and Investment Promotion Bureau. 

Centered on the theme “Shaping the Future Together: Exploring the ‘Lijiang Paradigm’ for Ecological Living & Travel”, the program integrated seminars, exhibitions, experiential workshops, and cultural events designed to advance eco-conscious travel and community resilience. It also commemorated SDC’s 20th anniversary, highlighting its continued focus on fostering eco-civilization communities and facilitating international cooperation in the field.

The opening ceremony on November 1 at Lijiang Snow Mountain Art Village featured remarks by Gao Ping, Vice Mayor of Lijiang, and Liu Wei, SDC Chairman. Wang Wei, SDC Honorary Vice-Chair, presented key international exchange achievements from the past year.

A series of expert-led discussions followed, with scholars such as Yang Fuquan (Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences), Yang Shugao (Yunnan Ecological Civilization Construction Research Association), and Zhang Xiaode (National Academy of Governance) exploring ecological philosophy, indigenous Dongba wisdom, and traditional Chinese landscape perspectives. Local officials also outlined regional industrial planning and sustainable investment pathways.

On November 1–2, the seminar “48 Hours in Lijiang: Co-creating a New Travel Ecosystem” convened over 60 tourism and development professionals. Through project showcases, mentorship sessions, and collaborative workshops, six local initiatives—including Lijiang Sunac Snow Mountain Art Village and Lieyinggu Sports Wellness Resort—were spotlighted as models of sustainable development.

The SDC’s 20th anniversary gathering on November 3 honored long-term members and featured the unveiling of commemorative stamps tracing the committee’s evolution. In a keynote address, Honorary Chairman Christopher Chuang emphasized cross-cultural collaboration and a shared vision for a harmonious global future.

Parallel events throughout the week included the “Echoes of Yulong Mountain” Concert, thematic exhibitions on symbiosis and ecological education, and the “From Land to Table” seminar, which examined local approaches to sustainable food systems.

bridging theory and practice, facilitating public–private dialogue, and integrating local knowledge with global insights, the Lijiang Eco-Sojourn Season provided a practical framework for ecological travel and community development. The SDC aims to build on this momentum, scaling its work in eco-civilization community building and strengthening international partnerships to advance global sustainability.
